After you reach the above-mentioned locations, the Discovery Hike Team will pick you up for Govindghat, which is the starting point of the Valley of Flowers Trek. If you are travelling from Rishikesh or Haridwar, the route will welcome you with amazing scenic beauty and spiritual serenity. Along the way, you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the Srinagar town due to the curvy mountain roads and never never-ending rugged landscape.
Devprayag is the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, to form the holy Ganga. It is a much-awaited view for most tourists. As we move forward, you will be overwhelmed by Rudraprayag, which is the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini. It will be a long day till Govindghat, so make sure to take quick naps during the journey as well. We will reach Govindghat by evening. Socialise with the locals and rest well for the next day.
Day 2: Govindghat to Ghangaria – trek for 6 to 7 hours (10000 ft ) – 12 km
The day arrives when we start our journey towards the Valley of Flowers. The trail is picturesque due to greenery, large coniferous trees and distant views of settlements with terrace farming. It will be an audio-visual experience throughout the initial section of the trek because of the breathtaking waterfalls and tiny streams flowing rapidly.
You can also catch your breath for a while by interacting with the locals and pilgrims, heading towards Hemkund Sahib. Ghangaria is a beautiful place, so be prepared to capture a lot of photographs. Enjoy the local cuisine and rest well as the next day will be the most exciting in the entire trek.
Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and back to Ghangaria – trek for 3 to 4 hours (12000)
Finally, the day arrives when we trek towards the much-awaited Valley of Flowers. After finishing breakfast early, we started our journey along the trail, in the lap of intertwined branches and roots of trees. The trail has some steep slopes initially, but things slowly open up into the never-ending valley of wild flowers of different varieties and colours. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to over 500 species of flowers, including Orchids, Rhododendrons and poppies.
Stay with the team and follow the instructions of the Team leaders of the Discovery Hike as there are some floral species which can make you feel sleepy because of their aroma. After spending some time here, we descended back to Ghangaria as there are no stay options available in the Valley of Flowers. While coming back to Ghangaria, you will cherish the beauty and memories of the Valley of Flowers.
Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back to Ghangaria – trek for 6 to 7 hours (14107 ft)
This is going to be the most challenging day of the trek as we will be heading towards the world’s highest Gurudwara at an altitude of 14107 ft – the Hemkund Sahib. It is going to be a strenuous climb as there are steep sections, but whenever you feel demotivated about the climb, look at the surrounding Himalayan peaks and let it all out in nature. Once you reach Hemkund Sahib, you are met with the absolute peace and serenity of the place.
The Gurudwara is situated amid the towering mountain ranges and is also surrounded by a lake, which also adds to its high spiritual value. The Hemkund Sahib is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for the Sikh community around the world. If you are seeking peace, get soaked into the rugged terrain and embrace the culture. After a while, we trek down to Ghangaria and have our snacks. Spend the evening recollecting all the memories with the team members and locals. We end the day with our dinner.
Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat – trek for 3 to 4 hours
Although you feel satisfied by the experience of the trek but somewhere, you can also sense heavy heartedness. Every step might feel like a huge task, not because you are tired, but because you might have developed a strong connection with the place and its people within a very short span. After reaching Govindghat, you explore the place and its local culture. The architecture, cuisine and art are some of the things which you might explore. You can also gain deep insight into the prevalent folklore of the forests and mountains. Overall, you can say that the Valley of Flowers has everything you would expect as a trekker.
Day 6: Govindghat to Haridwar/Rishikesh/Kathgodam/Dehradun
The final day of the trek arrives. The Discovery Hike Team will take you to your desired location (as per the package) along the same roads and landscapes. Bali Pass is full of unexplored jungles, flower valleys, waterfalls, glaciers and wild berries to eat 🤤 All this experience gets even more amazing when you have an experienced crew by your side ! Discovery hikes provide you with an unforgettable experience coz they provide you with great food (tasty) & sweet dish at an altitude you cant expect. Moreover, the survival tips and they take care of your tantrums like a mother 😅 Ganga Rana, Mayank bhaiji & team made our experience more comfortable and we did the summit with moderate ease. Safety wise, it's a heads up with this team. P.S. - If you that guy who lags behind everytime and gets exhausted very easily 😂, Don't worry ! Discovery hikes won't leave you alone ! There is a guide each in the front, middle & back of the group. I had experienced many treks with different adventure companies but Ganga bhaiya and his team is one of the best in all fronts, he and his very best team take care of us. One of the things that needs to complete a difficult trek is food they provide you excellent food, at such a high altitude their food quality doesn't depreciate. Thanks to Ganga bhaiya, Mayank bhaiya and Govind bhaiya and all the staff of Discovery Hike we made it till end. The very last day is like leaving a family. All the best for future expeditions. They helped us every time we were exhausted and kept us safe till the last destination which was recommendable job.
