Itinerary of the Har ki Dun Trek

Day 1: Pick up from Dehradun Airport and drive to Sankri Base Camp

The road from Dehradun is quite scenic and will create anticipation about the upcoming landscapes ahead. It is a 200 km drive from Dehradun and will take around 8-10 hours by road. The Tons Valley moves along the road and shows you the way towards Sankri. You will cross Mussoorie, Purola and Morion the way to Sankri if you are travelling from Dehradun. After you reach the Sankri guesthouse, freshen up and get ready for the evening snacks and briefing about the Har ki Dun trek. Socialize with the locals about the place while having dinner and rest well.

Day 2: Drive from Sankri Base Camp to Taluka and trek to Seema

 

Finish your breakfast early as the trek begins today. We will drive to Taluka, where the trek begins. It is a 12 km drive and will take 1 hour. The road takes you through dense forests and wooden houses unveiling the local Garhwali architecture. After reaching Taluka, we will start our 14 km trek to Seema, which will take 6-7 hours. The Supin River flows along the trail which looks serene. The dense alpine forests full of pine, oak and deodar trees make the journey even more enchanting. After we reach Seema, you have the option to choose tents as well as a homestay. Appreciate the natural beauty and take photographs here. Day 3: Trek from Seema to Har ki Dun Valley

We will start the day after breakfast and move steadily towards the Har Ki Dun Valley. The trail moves through dense forests but finally opens up into the Har Ki Dun Valley. It is an 11 km trek and will take us 6-7 hours. There are many small settlements and villages along the way where we can take small breaks and gain more knowledge about the local culture and its people. The views of the Swargarohini and Bandarpoonch Peak look majestic and push the trekkers to keep moving forward. Once we reach the Har ki Dun valley, you are met with unobstructed greenery along with colourful wildflowers and Rhododendrons. We will spend the night at a campsite near the valley.

Day 4: Exploration Day at Har ki Dun Valley

 

This is an exploration day for the trekkers so that they take every part of the Har ki Dunvalley, back home. There is a small lake called the Maninda Tal which we will be exploring. The Trek Leaders of DiscoveryHike will guide you throughout and help you with the necessary information about the place. The trekkers can also choose an optional hike to the Jaundhar Glacier. The opportunities for photographers are endless are you have the entire day. You might witness Himalayan Monal, Griffin Vultures and Golden Eagle. Day 5: Trek from Har ki Dun to Seema

 

We start our journey back towards Seema homestay today. Appreciating the beauty of the Har ki Dun valley, we start the descent and finally enter the dense forest trail. As it is the same route, your eyes have the opportunity to revisit some parts of the scenery that you may have missed. After the 11 km trek, we reach the Seema homestay. We engage in meaningful conversations with the locals while reliving memories.

Day 6: Trek from Seema to Taluka and drive back to Sankri

After finishing breakfast at the Seema homestay, we start our descent through the forest and local villages. With a heavy heart, you will reach the Taluka after a long 14 km trek. The trek officially ends here. The Discovery Hike Team will congratulate you for completing the trek successfully and drive you back to Sankri through the same route. You will be tired today but make sure to explore the market and surrounding areas of Sankri. Enjoy local music while digging deep into Garhwali cuisine. After the dinner, you will spend the night in the Sankri guesthouse.

Day 7: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun
